The 3Dlabs Permedia series was a line of graphics accelerator chips released in the mid-to-late 1990s, aimed at bridging the gap between professional, high-end 3D workstation graphics (such as 3Dlabs' own GLINT series) and the emerging consumer/entry-level 3D market. First introduced in 1996, the Permedia chips were notable for being the first to offer full OpenGL ICD (Installable Client Driver) support in an affordable, low-cost graphics card.
