Kölner Zoo

The Aktiengesellschaft Cologne Zoological Garden is the zoo of Cologne, Germany. Being the third oldest zoo in Germany, it features over 10,000 animals of more than 850 species on more than 20 hectares. The internationally renowned zoo with an attached aquarium and invertebrate exhibit is active in preservational breeding of animals that are in danger of becoming extinct. In addition, in-the-wild conservation efforts and research focussing on animals of Madagascar, Wallacea, and Vietnam are actively promoted and supported via cooperation with Cologne University and local projects, such as in the case of Przewalski's horses.

Der Zoologische Garten Köln im nördlichen Stadtteil Riehl wurde im Jahre 1860 gegründet und gilt unter den heute in Deutschland vorhandenen Tiergärten als drittältester Zoo. Mit über 1,3 Millionen Zutritten (im Jahr 2019) gehört er zu den meistbesuchten Einrichtungen seiner Art in Deutschland.

Le zoo de Cologne est fondé en 1860 par les habitants de Cologne. Il est financièrement indépendant jusqu'aux années 1920, lorsque la ville de Cologne en achète la majorité des parts. Depuis lors, le zoo est financé par la ville. Pendant la Seconde Guerre Mondiale, le zoo est presque complètement détruit et a doit être fermé. Deux ans après la guerre, en 1947, il est rouvert au public. Il est alors non seulement reconstruit, mais sa superficie est doublée pour atteindre la taille de 20 hectares. Cette phase de reconstruction et d'agrandissement s'est achevée dans les années 1970.
En 1963 a été créée la première école zoologique sur le continent européen. Le zoo de Cologne a également joué un rôle primordial dans la mise en place des programmes européens d'élevage et gère actuellement un nombre important de ces programmes et contribue financièrement et humainement à plusieurs programmes de conservation in situ d'espèces menacées d'extinction.

Wir waren schon mehrmals im Kölner Zoo ehe wir Kinder hatten (vor 2012) und jetzt am 26.08.2022 haben wir diesen Besuch mit unseren Kindern nachgeholt.
Es war mega heiss und man hat gesehen dass die Tiere darunter gelitten haben und trotzdem auch dass sie gut versorgt waren.
Unsere Kinder waren sehr begeistert – so wie wir auch immer wieder.
Wir haben uns aber mit den Fotos kriegen lassen – die waren sehr überteuert. Aber was macht man nicht alles für die Kinder.
Wie immer sehr begeistert und kann diesen Zoo einfach nur empfehlen
